Digital revolution reality check
2011-04-21 12:09:00 | Just-Auto
The automakers are falling all over themselves to install 'safer, less distractive' 'man-machine interfaces' in their cars. Not, it seems, with entirely satisfactory results.
Touch screens, voice-activated systems, steering wheel remote controls, all supposed to make the driver's life easier.
But, as this video shows, the reality is far from the utopia hyped in the automakers' press releases.
And the tester is no klutz; he's a technology editor.
Interesting to note also that influential Consumer Reports recently slammed Ford's MyFord Touch system (also available in Lincoln) for being "a complicated distraction when driving".
Works in progress, eh?
